Edwin Franklin (Sonny) Lewis Jr. passed away at Miami Valley Hospital on April 4th, 2017 at the age of 81.
Edwin is predeceased by his father Edwin Franklin Lewis Sr., his mother Helen Clemont, and his sister Joan Webb. Edwin is survived by his loving wife Paulette (Whitaker) Lewis of 40 years. They were married in Dayton Ohio on October 14th, 1976.

Edwin is lovingly remembered by his brother Herb Lewis, sisters: Cornell McGee, Jean Castillo, and Bernadine Lewis. His children, daughters: Gwen Lewis-Davis, Trina Lewis, Rhonda Lewis, Linda Lewis, Desiree Lewis-Delgado, Sherri Whitaker, and Vicki (Lewis) Ingles; sons: Edwin F. Lewis III, Bruce Lewis, Terri Lewis and Son-in-law Robert (Bobby) Jordan III. Edwin had 31 grandchildren and a special relationship with his grandson Nicholas Cornell Jordan, he will also be missed by his best friend of 38 years, Tim Meyer, in addition to 23 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Edwin was born in Wheeling W. Virginia on November 2nd, 1935. In life, Edwin did two military tours as a member of the United States Airforce, and retired as a Staff Sargent with full military honors. Edwin worked for 40 years at Trimble, as a Facilities Supervisor and post retirement as Security. He enjoyed working with his hands and had a fondness for repairing bikes and lawnmowers. A people person, Edwin quickly made friends of everyone that he met and thusly never encountered a stranger.

The visitation and Homegoing service will be held at Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ, 600 Shiloh Springs Rd, Dayton Ohio, 45416 on April 13th, with visitation from 10a- 11a. and services commencing at 11a-12p.

Sr. Pastor, Supt. H. Douglas McMahon, Officiating. Pastor Dr. Pamela Lane and Rev. Dr. LueWana Bankston will also give an address. Honors celebration to follow at V.A. National Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ, 600 Shiloh springs Rd, Dayton Ohio, 45416.
