Reijo's passing has left me very sad. Reijo was such an honest, open, and dedicated person. He made a very important contribution to our field, and especially to the tradition of Scandanavian work on corporate internationalization processes. Reijo will be long remembered for his vital role in the development of our subject area and our professional community in the International Business field, in Finland, Scandanavia, Europe, and the world beyond. Reijo was one of the nicest and most supportive men I have ever met. He was one of our few truly great leaders. John Cantwell, Dean of the EIBA Fellows

I will never forget my dear Friend Reijo Luostarinen, a very nice, commited and forward-looking man, and an outstanding scholar. I learned a lot from him. Many, many thanks, Reijo! We are still at Jean Sibelius monument singing under your direction.

[On behalf of Philippe Gugler, EIBA Chairman] – Reijo Luostarinen was the EIBA President and Chair of the EIBA 1989 Helsinki conference (the 15th EIBA Annual Conference held at Helsinki School of Economics, 17-19 December 1989) – a pivotal event in the history of EIBA. Over the coming months, the European International Business Academy (EIBA) will honour Reijo's life and professional achievements by commemorating his great contribution and loyalty to EIBA. Our family and the International Business community at large have sadly lost a dear friend and mentor who will long be remembered. Reijo will be sorely missed by all who knew him both professionally and personally.
