This memorial was created in honor of Christopher "DJ Big Dose" Thorne of Roanoke, Virginia.

Christopher Thorne, a radio personality and promotions director at The Vibe (WVBE-FM, 100.1/97.7, 610 AM).

Thorne, who also went by Nigel Christopher, hosted a midday show as “DJ Big Dose.” Born on May 29, 1969, in Brooklyn, New York, he became interested in radio after watching his cousins perform turntable tricks, according to his Facebook page.

In 1989, Thorne began working at a community radio station in Atlanta. He later worked at WBHH in Norfolk, which was the first East Coast all hip-hop station. He joined The Vibe, which serves the Roanoke-Lynchburg market, on Oct. 22, 2012.

Dose was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all friends and family.

I am DJ Baby Ace originally from Jamaica, and owner of Baby Ace Radio.
I still can't believe this! We were in touch the night before he left, he asked me to send him a couple of mixes to vibe to while in Panama and I did. We had a project we were working on and he said we will take the next step when he gets back from vacation. .. I've known him since I first came to the US in 1990, we met at DeVry. That's when I first witnessed a hip hop DJ blazing and cutting on turntables in a club! Over these years he has always been a mentor and inspiration. We sometimes lose touch with acquaintances or friends, but I always felt there was a reason we remained in touch. Perhaps for him to "constantly inspire me" to keep reaching for bigger things. We spoke for almost 20 minutes on Dec. 30th about plans for growth in 2015. I will miss you Bro! I can hear you saying "don't be sad, just keep pushing Bro" ... Heaven has another Angel now. Rest In Paradise My Brother!

Dose was one of our finest remixers. A true genius at his craft. We were just talking 3 days before his death about his upcoming releases. He was so excited. A joy to work with.
We will make sure his music NEVER dies.
He is already sorely missed.
Labelmates from all the world are saddened by this tragedy.
May his spirit rest with God and guide us!
