Erin was my step daughter for 15 years. Even after her dad and I divorced, we still saw each other and did things together. One of the funniest memories I have is this one time we played Pictionary. We were all gathered around playing and she was trying to figure out what I was drawing. I was drawing an earlobe but she could not remember what it was called. So she called it ear fat and we just laughed and laughed. It was also during this time I decided it would be great to buy a motorcycle. We used to ride that thing everywhere, especially down to the beach. We went down to the beach one time with another friend of hers and the waves were so great. We played like crazy kids all day. It was so much fun. It was also on this motorcycle that we almost fell over.... we were stopped at the time (I seemed to have the hardest time balancing when we weren’t moving). Luckily we were fine, but we laughed at my lack of balance! She used to make fun of me because I said buggy instead of cart and I laughed at her for saying “Aunt” instead of “Ant” like we say in Bama. She was such a talented Artist. I was always amazed at her gift. When she decided to go to my Alma Mater, University of Montevallo, I was so excited for her. There wasn’t a person alive she wouldn’t have given her last dollar to. You will always be a part of me. Until we meet again.

I dont even know where to begin. I met Erin in either 1998 or 1999 at church..St Mark Catholic in Virginia Beach. We were in youth group together. We had slumber partys, we sang in choir together, we fed the homeless people at soup kitchens..we talked about life..the good and the bad.. we went camping..we tried to pierce our own belly buttons during a camping trip once..shh dont tell..thats who she is..i cant say was...to me Erin..you still are...Erin is fun, she is caring..she would give her last if it meant helping the next person. She is strong...despite her flaws she stands with a smile and says " this is me..take it or leave it" We had periods where we didnt talk for a while after she left Va..but when we picked up...no time had passed. She is a comedian...can make you laugh no matter what your current mood was..and the smile she gives in return can light up the world. I remember her meeting my baby girl...shes 13 now! I can close my eyes and remember each of these moments as if its playing right before me. I love you Erin.

Erin and I went to our property we own with Todd Zizzi and I was going to show her how to shoot with the understanding that she would take a self defense pistol course at a later date. I am retired Navy but I am neither a Range Master nor Certified Firearms Instructor. We started with how the handle a firearm; always act as if it is loaded and always point the weapon in a safe direction. I demonstrated these points and we progressed to actually shooting at a target. Having never fired the Sig-Sauer 9mm before; she put the first three rounds in a ten inch grouping at 25 yards. (Pretty darn good) We had fun that day.

Erin hated onions. Every Thanksgiving we would make two separate batches of cornbread dressing. One batch with real Louisiana Andouille and plenty of onions and one batch without onions. We always gave the leftovers to Erin so she wouldn’t have to cook. One Thanksgiving Dad gave her the wrong batch of dressing (this one had onions in it). She called back the next week thanking us for the delicious dressing.

We always enjoyed meeting for dinner every couple of weeks when Erin lived in Birmingham, AL. We would take turns deciding what restaurant meet at. I think her favorites were the Purple Onion and the Pita Grill. We also would to Baumhowers Wings and Buffalo Wild Wings when we couldn't decide where to go. We would meet and talk about our day and what was going on. Using to the time to catch up or maybe plan our next meeting. That I will miss.

Erin loved fishing. When she was 5 was visited her Great Aunts Florence Ginsbach and Sister Gertrude Nemmers she disappeared as young ones do sometimes. We found her in the back yard sitting next to a large wash tube. She had gotten a fishing pole out of the garrrage and had it dangling in the wash tub anxiously waiting to catch a fish!
