This memorial was created in honor of Christopher "DJ Big Dose" Thorne of Roanoke, Virginia.

Christopher Thorne, a radio personality and promotions director at The Vibe (WVBE-FM, 100.1/97.7, 610 AM).

Thorne, who also went by Nigel Christopher, hosted a midday show as “DJ Big Dose.” Born on May 29, 1969, in Brooklyn, New York, he became interested in radio after watching his cousins perform turntable tricks, according to his Facebook page.

In 1989, Thorne began working at a community radio station in Atlanta. He later worked at WBHH in Norfolk, which was the first East Coast all hip-hop station. He joined The Vibe, which serves the Roanoke-Lynchburg market, on Oct. 22, 2012.

Dose was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all friends and family.

Every Saturday Morning, I would look forward to seeing Dose at the studio. We talked often about love, life, relationships, family, health and of course, dee jaying, music and mixing. We usually greeted one another with a big hello and a fist bump. He was a true friend who knew how to put a smile on your face and help you have a better day. He had this sense of confidence that I thought was amazing, but he was so humble. One day I decided to Google his name just for fun. I discovered Dose is recognized as one of the top 5 thousand mixers in the world! I think I was more excited than he was. He couldn't shut me up that morning we talked about it. We just laughed. I will miss you my man! Saturday mornings will not be the same without you. God Bless

I had the pleasure of working with Dose at Mel Wheeler Inc. He was a one of a kind man and true gentleman. From greeting me with a "Good morning Madam" to just talking about my children and blessing my husband for being able to raise four daughters, he would always take the time to listen. If he walked by and noticed I wasn't smiling he would make me crack up by saying something funny, and say "Now that's more like it". I found out he was the dj at a local club and I shared with him that my youngest daughter was going for her birthday and I was quite nervous about it. He just said "I got you baby girl" and assured me she'd be fine. I cannot explain the comfort I felt as a mom knowing he was going to be there in case she needed him. He has left behind memories that I will treasure a lifetime.

I remember when he would come down for the summer and then a few years later your family moved to Columbia,SC for good. Oh how he hated it. All the Kids on our Street would get out and play football,Roolie Polie(Street Ball),something we had teach him. Chris would show off his rapping skills and wanted to battle by spitting ryhemes and he would always win.(Big Show off) We would listen to music in our family room and we was trying to teach Chris how to dance. We gave up! When I spoke to him recently He shared something with me. He Said " You know I hate the song the Electric Side, because your mother(MS. Claudie) would play it everyday and everyt time I would come over. I hated it." But we had fun and I will turly miss him. Camino Dr Gang. I love ya Boy Ivy Wilson
