Obituary: Wanda Jean Reed, a faithful woman of God, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital after a brief struggle with cancer. Wanda was born in Delaware, Ohio on February 10, 1936 to Cyrus and Juanita Fleming and raised with her 12 siblings. In 1951, Wanda met the love of her life, Joe H. Reed. The two were married on May 7, 1953 and remained inseparable for 63 years. During their blessed union they raised seven children James Reed (Janey), Brenda Sales (Malcolm), Joe Reed (Heidi), Brian Reed, Natasha Doran (Jacquere), Margo Shelton, and Juan Reed. Wanda also provided foster care and childcare to numerous children in Delaware and several of her grandchildren Bridgette Peteet (Damien) and Devon Smale (Charles).

Wanda, or “Granny” as she was affectionately known to her family and others, had numerous hobbies and passions including crocheting, reading, and watching old movies. However, her number one passion was her unwavering devotion and love for Jesus Christ. As a born again Christian and Seventh Day Adventist, not a day went by that she was not sharing or demonstrating the love of Christ in her words and actions. She was an active member of Victory Seventh-Day Adventist Church for over five decades.

Wanda is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Joe, 7 children, 20 grandchildren and spouses, 13 great grandchildren, several siblings, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. May the light of her life linger in all of our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family has designated Riverside Methodist Hospital Bing Cancer Center for memorial contributions (https://foundation.ohiohealth.com/riverside/cancer-services-giving).

To the greatest mother a son could ever ask for, to the greatest wife a man could wish for, the greatest mother a daughter could hope to have, to the greatest sister or friend she was made of splendor, love, life, sass, and class. I lift my head high and salute the sky because momma you finally got your wings and your first chance to fly soaring to the highest of the high fat beyond the deep blue sky farther than any telescope or any eye. May you Rest In Peace as your spirit looks down upon us no that all of us will be alright because our mother and father has taught us right and we always keep up and on the good fight!! Your story we be told and you will always live on cause thru us and in everyone of us is a piece of you the best part and it will be passed on thru generations and you will never leave our hearts! You may be gone but you will never be forgotten.......I love you and I will always reminisce of your lessons and stories in and of life often because forever always in my heart and mind always forever never be forgotten!!!!
