Location: Dayton, Ohio

Elizabeth Huguely Williams was born in Elmwood, Ohio on April 19, 1921 to Widney and Isabelle Huguely. She lived most of her life in Ohio and Kentucky. As a young woman she worked as a private maid, at the McCall pattern factory before retiring from the City of Dayton where she was a custodian at the Dayton Convention Center. Leaving the world as peacefully as she lived, she quietly moved on to her heavenly home late Saturday afternoon, August 19, 2017 at the age of 96 years, 4 months and 19 days. Elizabeth “Betty” Williams was known to have a beautiful spirit with never a bad word to say about anyone or anything and because of that she was loved by all that knew her.

She was a long time member of The Tabernacle Baptist Church even serving as an usher for a period of time. Before the passing of her husband Robert L. Williams, Sr. they accumulated many miles on the road traveling the United States driving as far away as Las Vegas, Nevada and New York City. Theirs was a trusty family of longtime friends traveling from city to city spending the nights playing Spades and Bid Whist, days eating, laughing and just genuinely enjoying the presence of one another. Elizabeth was not a woman of many words, she was soft spoken, kind hearted and always moving with style, dignity and grace…the epitome of a phenomenal woman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert L. Williams, Sr., her older brother Sylvester Huguely, Sr., and one son Robert L. Williams, Jr. She leaves four children Brenda, Antoinette (Net), Robin and Rodney Williams. One sister-in-love, Mrs. Ruth B. Huguely. She was truly her sister and one of her life long best friends. Ruth supported her and looked out for her best interest through her last days. She also leaves two nephews Sylvester Jr., Glen and one niece Marpessa. Her legacy will continue to live through 18 grand-children, 39 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren as well as her great-nieces and nephews.

Service will be held Monday, August 28, 2017 at Young Lusain Funeral Home (2060 Germantown Street). Visitation will begin at 11:00am with service to follow at 12:00pm. Interment will be at Dayton National Cemetery.

This memorial was created in honor of Elizabeth Williams of Dayton, Ohio. Elizabeth was born on April 19, 1921 and passed on August 19, 2017. Elizabeth was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all friends and family.

Professional arrangements entrusted to Young Lusain Funeral Home.

My heartfelt condolences to the family. I am so sorry for your loss. May you find comfort through the loving and beautiful memories of your beloved Elizabeth. May you also look to our Loving Heavenly Father, the God of all comfort, to provide what you need during this very sad time. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4, Psalms 83:18). He promises us that very soon, He will do away with sickness and death forever. "He will wipe every tear from our eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Revelation 21:3,4, Isaiah 33:24. What a wonderful promise! May all of God's promises give you a measure of strength, hope, comfort and peace. I have personally found comforting thoughts at jw.org.
