This memorial was created in honor of Bishop Dr Victor Sunday Balinga of Yaounde, Cameroon. Victor was born on May 19, 1939 in Bafia and passed on February 8, 2018 in Yaounde. Daddy Victor was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all family and friends.
Born on 14th may 1939, he attended the Basel Mission primary schools in Victoria and kumba and the St Peter’s Clevers Primary School in Muyuka. He graduated from the Cameroon Protestant College in 1959 and St Joseph’s College Sasse High School in 1961. He became a civil servant in 1962. He was also Queen’s Scout in 1958. Became Scout Master of the 9th Nsukka Troop 1966 and obtained the BSc (Hons) Zoology degree frm the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1967. He got married to his beloved wife Agnes Don-a-Bui Murum in March 1967. He was the founder and President General of NUCS Africa in 1965. He was an AFGRAD fellow and obtained the MSC Wildlife Management from the University of Maine, Orono, USA in 1971. He was the first African Wildlife Management graduate. He was the first and only Wildlife Officer for West Cameroon from 1967 to 1972. He was also the Forest Officer for Victoria and Secretary of the Victoria Division Tourism Board when he constructed the Jungle Village in the Botanical Garden. From 1972 to 1995 he served the Federal and Republic Government of Cameroon as Chief of Service for Wildlife, Sub-Director of Forest Environment, Charge d’Etudes and Technical Adviser for Scientific and Technical Research. He was appointed IUCN Secretary General for Africa in 1974. As Senior Lecturer he taught Wildlife and Animal Ecology in the Forestry School, Mbalmayo, the Wildlife College, Garoua and University of Dschang. He was the Founder and President of the Cameroon Wildlife Conservation Society from 1983. He was the President of the Friends of Limbe Wildlife Center, President of the Patrons of the Limbe Regional Library and the National President of the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association. After retirement in 1994, he served WWF-UK as Project Manager in the KORUP Project (1995-1998). He was a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was ordained minister (Pastor) of the Worldwide Church of God in 1999 and is the Vice-president of the church in Cameroon while serving as the Pastor of the Limbe congregation. He was a graduate of School of Ministry, The Emmaus Bible School, the DNM Bible Training Center and the Good Samaritan Ministries. He served as Chairman of the Emmaus Board. Adviser of the Limbe Council of Clergy and Vice Chairman of the Fire Conference 2004. He was the President of Revival Gospel Radio and Television Board, Buea. The Cameroon government granted him two honors; Knight of the Cameroon Order of Merit and the officer of Cameroon Order of Merit. In 2010, he was conferred the Doctor of Divinity by the International Circle of Faith University, Kentucky, USA and elevated to the position of the ICOF Bishop of Limbe, Cameroon. He has written 90 unpublished Christian Books.
