My deepest sympathy to William and his family. I met Beverly in 1993. Her husband Bill Miller and my soon-to-be husband Alex Sherer were both boxing trainers. Alex and Bill had become like father and son through their years of working together at Kronk Boxing gym in Detroit. They shared a love of boxing and both were respected as historians of the sport. Alex looked at Beverly as a 2nd mom. He was very fond of her and made sure she and I connected. Once we began to talk over the phone, we never stopped. Over time I too looked at her as a mom. When Alex passed in 1997 she flew to Los Angeles to be by my side and remained there forever. I will never forget when she stayed at my home in Las Vegas for a month. We attended several shows on and off the strip. Even got our groove on and went dancing a few times. Beverly has a great sense of humor. It was nothing for her to tell a great story ending in a punch line. She was my friend and confidant. Always encouraging me to pursue my dreams. I truly miss Beverly and her cooking those famous salmon croquet. I will see you, Bill, and Alex again someday. Rest in peace, my love. Always and forever, Diana Sherer

Beverly was my wonderful, flamboyant cousin. My father would call her Barbara Stanwyck because of her expressive eyes. Beverly was always so loving and caring towards me. She never forgot my birthday; she visited my father in his nursing home; she had fun conversations with my husband and children; she gave me a trinket which sits on my kitchen counter; she always sent us Christmas cards from her and “Sassy”. We will remember Beverly with love always. ~Ernestine Littlejohn

I loved inviting Mrs. Miller to the different things we would have for Elijah. You could ALWAYS count on her to light up the room with her effervescent personality! Her greatest accomplishment, in my opinion, is her wonderful son William P. Harper III. Thank you Mrs. Miller for raising such a compassionate and gentle soul that later became my husband and baby daddy. We will miss your voice, your bright external light, your presence. WE LOVE YOU- Sonja
