Pat was like a mentor to me. Although 33 years my senior, Pat was a kindred spirit. When I was going through a hard time, Pat was understanding and compassionate because she had faced her own past struggles. She had me over for meals, dvd watching, and Scrabble games. She was incredibly authentic: no pretense or sham. Being with her was refreshing because she was absolutely herself and allowed others to be themselves. I am sorry I lost touch with Pat after she left Fresno. I miss her and will always be glad I knew her.

Pat always made me smile! We were kindred souls and shared the same politics and loved to talk about books. I have missed her so much over the years. For many years we wrote to one another, but hadn't heard from her in quite some time. We met at University Presbyterian Church. She was wise and kind and always had such a wonderful smile. She let me know it was ok to "think on my own," " have my own opinions," "be a strong woman." I loved her.
