Chef was a giant among men….. he brought a smile to every kitchen and meeting I saw him in.. and when he was cussing ? he only had kind words for you! Chef Walter left us where he would of liked too surrounded by food, friends and a bunch of obnoxious chefs being rude to each other……. I will miss my old friend…. That day will be one that will live with me forever for sure… but I being able to be there for his beautiful and strong wife….. I hope I was comfort thru that time…. Chef will and is missed….. We in the kitchens will make sure we still drop those F-Bombs in honor of him!! God is eating well….. that is one thing we all know for sure!!! God Bless……

With Walter being almost 8 years old, I only have little memories of us together as children. However, my greatest one is when I graduated from high school, Walter was already living in Seattle. My present from our parents was to fly to Colorado with our grandmother, who was going to visit with our uncle. Walter drove down to pick me up and we made our way back to Seattle. What an experience camping out under the stars in all the states. But my favorite was waking up to the view Teton mountains. It was a wonderful time for just the two of us. We got to know each other as adults. Thank you for being my big brother. Love you always.

When I first moved to Seattle from Santa Barbara in 1988 as chef at the old Mirabeau restaurant, I was introduced to Walter by a mutual acquaintance. Walter helped guide me through the maze of being a new chef in a new city, and was instrumental in my joining ACF. He was as decent and kind a soul as anyone could be, and will be long remembered and sorely missed. Whenever we met throughout the years, Walter was always courteous, genial, and good for a laugh or two. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Walter was the president of our AHF chapter right before me. He took me under his wing and showed me the ropes. Walter was dedicated, and so nice to people. After I became president he pulled me aside and said I've received a couple comments from members that you are too demanding. Walter reminded me that they are volunteers. I tried my best but I am afraid I never lived up to his expectations :-) Kidding Walter and I became good friends and collaborated on chapter business. It was Walter and I who visited Seattle Central College's Culinary Academy and started our unique culinary training program for the membership. A great leader and a better man. Thank you Walter for your friendship and showing me the way with our AHF Chapter. We are going to start an award or scholarship or something in your name!

Chef Walter Bronowitz was one of the judges at my first competition on home plate at Safeco Field 2004. Unfortunately, I misunderstood the rules and I created two dishes using the 8oz portions of each protein, Salmon & Pork. Chef's comment was "You did not follow the rules. If you would of chose one protein and divided it with those cooking methods, you would of kicked ass!" As he smiles! Chef gives me first place.
Furthermore, Chef Walter would come to class with fresh herbs from the garden at Seattle Central College. He would ask the students if they wanted any herbs and his favorite was Sage. Chef Walter was very supportive of the craft and he enjoyed working with students. My memories of Chef Walter Bronowitz, truly set a solid stone of inspiration and is a major impact on the Chef I am today. Thank you for the memories Chef Walter. I will miss you!
