Steve and Darlene were one of the first couples we got to know after we were married. We remember many of the wonderful BBQs we enjoyed out in their back yard. Steve was the great "broiler" - especially for the delicious hamburgers. Steve may have seemed quiet, but always had a great warmth and insight. We loved those many times we shared together over the years. When they moved up to Auburn, we enjoyed our times at the Sizzler each summer when we visited, and then in their home. We also enjoyed it when Steve took us to see his vegetable garden at their place in Auburn. He was really a farmer at heart. We will really miss him!
Our love to his whole family,
Don and June King

So many family get-togethers. I’m remembering the Christmas Eves at Mom’s. There was always a mystery gift. Steve solved the mystery every year. What a hoot!

Steve opened his home to me after my graduation from high school. After a long Greyhound bus trip from Ohio to Los Angeles, I was welcomed into the family with my sister-in-law and two nieces. Steve's strong moral character has been something to emulate. This was also the time that I began the next phase of my life with a husband and two daughters. Fifty-three married years later I thank Steve and the Greyhound bus. What a fortunate sister I have been with my seven brothers, and love and memories filling my heart.

Taking Steve to Yosemite was a highlight. He had a great time from site seeing to bike riding to sitting on the lodge porch people watching. It was a memorable trip.
