This memorial was created in honor of my mother ARMIDA CARLTON HOBART y DELGADO de GARCIA of Glendale, California and Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. ARMIDA was born on September 14, 1927 in Baracoa, Oriente, Cuba to Enrique Carlton Hobart and Elvira Delgado Felicó. She was one of 7 brothers and sisters and she passed on January 16, 2014 in Hollywood, Florida. She was a kind and loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Exiled in July of 1960, she emigrated from Cuba on the last legal ferry boat to Miami before the Cuban regime shut down services. Armida worked tirelessly to bring her parents and her six siblings from Cuba. She met the love of her life, Mario Garcia Cruz, on Miami Beach. They married on October 23rd, 1964 and after a few years they moved to Chicago, Illinois where their two children were born. She worked for United Air Lines, side by side with her husband, for almost 15 years at LAX airport before retiring. She was a loving wife, doting mother and grandmother, and a proud U.S. citizen since 1978. She loved her grandchildren Bailey, Brandon and Casey tremendously and never missed a chance to spend time with them. She was the utmost example of love, kindness and class. ARMIDA is buried at South Florida National Cemetery in Palm Beach County, Florida and was loved by many and is dearly missed by all her family and friends.
