In loving memory of Dorothy Phipps
5/5/1946 - 7/4/2015

Location: Liberty, Missouri

Visits: 123,445

Dorothy (Sue) Bell Phipps, aka "Dorf", came into this world on a holiday (May 5th, 1946) and left on another holiday (July 4th, 2015). This is appropriate as she loved celebrations and festivities.

This memorial website was created by Dorothy's family as a means to celebrate her life. Our family will also use the various links on this website to share with you this incredible person, who from the moment she entered this world until the moment she left, carried with her a brightness that provided warmth for everyone in her world. We encourage those who were touched by her loving kindness to share via the website links your personal stories of Dorothy (Memories), personal photos (Gallery/Friends Album), or share your respects and feelings for her family (Condolences). You may also light a calendar in her honor and sign our guest book for visiting this memorial.

We will be hosting a Celebration of Life event August 8th, 2015 in Columbia Missouri at Bleu restaurant (formerly Boone Tavern), from 4:30- 8:00pm. This will be a party with hors d’oeuvres and cash bar to celebration her life and to see her family. Her family attending this event include: Steve, Jennifer and her family, Kelly and her family, & Don Bell and his family. We hope to see you there if you can attend.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you support Dorothy’s daughters as they raise funds for Breast Cancer. As you may or may not know, Dorothy was a breast cancer survivor. Her girls would like to honor her memory as participants in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Donations may be made at the following secure website (cut and paste it browser) or in person at the Celebration of Life event.

Steve, Jennifer, and Kelly: I just learned of Dorothy's passing. I am so sorry for your great loss. Dorothy, wife, mother, and friend, was a beautiful person inside and out...always there in good times and bad. She enriched my life in many ways, and I will always cherish memories of the time we spent together. Steve, you and Dorothy had a wonderful marriage. You brought out the best in each other. Yours was indeed a marriage made in heaven. Jennifer and Kelly, your mother was all about her girls. Her spirit lives on in you. Rest in Peace Dorothy

Jenn and family. I am so sorry to hear about your mom. She was one of the kindest, funniest, caring people I have had the fortune of having in my life. She showed that leadership can be joined successfully with a wild sense of humor and those touched by her are better people because of her.

Dorothy was a wonderful person. She never saw a stranger. I worked with her when she was Alpha Gamma Chapter Advisor. Hated to see her move. Condolence to the Family.

I worked with Dorothy when she was chapter advisor for A D Pi and found her so easy to work with. She had rapport with all ages. My sincere sympathies to Jennifer and all the family.

Steve, Kel, and Jennifer what a priviledge it was to know Dorf. I enjoyed looking through her pictures and reminiscing with my husband about life as a teenager with her as one of our moms....she always had a smile, we never knew what would come out of her mouth, and she loved us no matter what. I am sorry for your loss and will continue to pray for you. Although I wish it was under different circumstances, I look forward to seeing all of you the 8th. Loves from Fayette MO....Ang
