In loving memory of Valerie Van
8/17/1959 - 11/10/2017

Location: Pocatello, Idaho

Visits: 7,925

This memorial was created in honor of Valerie M Van of Pocatello, Idaho. Valerie was born on August 17, 1959 in Bismarck, ND and passed unexpectedly at home the evening of November 10, 2017 at the age of 58 years young.

We are planning a Celebration of Life, Saturday November 18th, 2017 at the Clarion Inn (in Pocatello, Idaho) the Jasper Suite from 1-5pm. Please join us for an afternoon of light refreshments, stories and to celebrate the beautiful life of Valerie Van. Valerie touched everyone she came in contact with- she was gentle, kind, funny, and sometimes even mischievous. Valerie wouldn’t want us to grieve her departure- she would want us to celebrate the vibrant life she created with all of us.

Feel free to attend in the entirety or when it would most honor your relationship with Valerie.

Program:
1-2:30pm Open House
2:30-3:30pm-ish Eulogy & open mic, finishing with a toast to her life
3:30ish-5pm Open House

We would like to encourage people to bring a story to share (for a written memory book or the open mic), a photo we can keep, and to wear joyful colors to honor her lighthearted spirit if this feels right for them.

In lieu of flowers, please give a donation in Valerie’s name to: Canine Champions for Veterans in Pocatello, Idaho at https://cc4v.org/.

Valerie was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all friends and family.

I don't know what to say, but what sweet person Val has always been to me, she always had me laughing. I remember giving her a ride home from the grocery store when her little green car wouldn't start, we loaded up her groceries and gave her a ride home. I just loved her. She will truely be missed.

It has been such a shock losing you this way. I will always remember your kindness, your sense of humor, and all the great advice you gave me. I enjoyed all our ski trips, even when I couldn't see driving there. I loved our morning coffee (I had OJ) and our brunch lunches that we shared at Butter Burr's. I agree with Susan, it was an honor to work with you as well as be your friend. For Mark, Jamie, Anthony, Brian, & Macy....peace as you struggle through this difficult time. We are all here for you.

Death is the hardest thing we have to deal with in life. I know words can do little to take away the pain you are feeling so may the God of comfort be with your family helping you to cope. Lean on Him in the days to come and take heart in Psalms 147:3. It reads He heals the brokenhearted; He binds up their wounds. My deepest sympathy. I am so very very sorry for the loss of Val. She was always a ray of sunshine in some gloomy days at work. I'm glad I got the honor to work with her for many many years and to get to know her
