Losing your loved one in death is a pain we can never get accustomed to. But Jehovah, "the God of all comfort" lovingly eases that pain by promising to get rid of death. At Isaiah 25:8 he said that "He will swallow up death forever, and the sovereign lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces". Such beautiful and comforting words from our Father Jehovah can help us through the most difficult time of our lives.

I was so sorry to hear about Cynthia's passing. She was an amazing woman, full of spirit and intelligence and wit. The last time I saw her was in the summer after her stroke. Even then though, I could see the spark in her eyes. She will be missed by many people.

Dear Samantha, Cynthia was first of all a wonderful friend of my mom, she always kept the Hammond contraction with a phone call or a visit. After Mom died, Cynthia and I rekindled our friendship. Our phone calls were always special times for me. We talked family, politics of course, travel, playing games, church and all her volunteer activities and the books we so enjoyed. I have missed her, but feel blessed with the time we shared to maintain our Hammond connection. I used to love cleaning with the teenage Hammond girls, playing games on the big summer porch, sledding, a trip to the Adirondacks, sharing music at Christmas. It was so much fun to share in the family. Mary Jane (Koubek) Shonn

Dear Samantha, I am so saddened by your Mom's passing. She was a woman with such dedication and ability in all of her chosen work, both career and volunteer. Having met Cynthia through Art through Jonnie was a life's blessing. I remember them in the little house near mine in Bakersfield, and then the amazing adventure of having you enter their lives! Times spent with your family were so important to me as a relative "orphan" a continent away from my immediate family. Cynthia's interest in listening to others and asking important questions is something else I remember. I was glad to have visited a few times in Arkansas to share a little bit of that time in their lives. I'm sure your continued involvement in UU has meant a lot to her. My love in remembrance to Cynthia, and your Dad, and especially to you and Nick during this mourning time. Love, Laraine
