This memorial was created in honor of Robbie Jean Cafferky of Brentwood, Tennessee. Robbie Jean Cafferky, 92, passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 20, 2017. She was born in Sylacauga, AL on March 25th, 1925 and grew up in Alexander City, AL. Robbie was preceded in death by her sister of 88 years, Hilda Kilgore. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jory and Claudia Cafferky; Grandchildren Kimberly Hood, Stephanie Stahlbusch, and Samantha Rogers; Great Granddaughter, Emerson Hood; nieces Laura Sparer, Shirley Stubblefield, Jennifer Coriell, and their families, and a nephew, Roger Kilgore.

Robbie graduated from George Peabody College with a Bachelor of Science degree and completed a one year Medical Technology Internship with Charity Hospital of New Orleans, LA. She worked for the Clinical Hematology Lab at Vanderbilt University Hospital eventually becoming Lab Supervisor until her retirement in 1993 after nearly 41 years of service.

Robbie’s many interests included spending time with her extended family, photography, gardening, going to movies, listening to a variety of music, travel to foreign countries, and her favorite pursuit, ballroom dancing. She spent years dancing her way through competitions in Nashville and across the USA.

The family appreciates the support of Brighton Gardens over the two years of her residency there. We also express our gratitude to the staff of Alive Hospice for making Robbie’s final days comfortable and peaceful.

Robbie will be interred later this year next to her mother in Laurel Cemetery, Alexander City, AL, on a date to be announced. No graveside ceremony is planned.

September 11, 2017 I am offering condolences to her family. In my season of being privileged to know Robbie Jean and her family, a legacy of precious memories was left not to ever be forgotten. Her finesse, eloquence, etiquette, charm, spunk and beauty were woven into a tapestry of life. Much sadness will be endured. My prayers go forth as precious people, dear to me, overcome the heartaches of this loss. The signs of joy and celebration will illuminate through the sadness as threads that give strength. Connie Braziel, Austin, TX
