Robert Gerald “Bobby” Spann was born in Evergreen, Alabama on May 21, 1949 to the late Robert and Dorothy Spann. “Bobby” as we so affectionately called him was the youngest of four children. He precedes his siblings, Dolores McClure, Vaughn Russel Spann and Jean Ellen Spann-Anthony in being present with The Lord. As a child, Bobby attended West Cincinnati St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church and was baptised at an early age by Reverend Maurice McCracken. He attended Evanston Elementary, Sawyer Junior High and Withrow High School. Upon leaving school, Bobby began to work at Philip Carey as a forklift operator working seven days a week for approximately four years. He was then drafted into The United States Army and sent to Fort Dix, New Jersey for basic training and later deployed to Panama where he was honorably discharged after completing his tour of duty in the Infantry. Bobby returned to Philip Carey, now known as Celotex and worked a number of years. After his tenure at Celotex, he worked at Platnium Cleaning Facility Services in The Convergys Building in Downtown Cincinnati for 23+ years. He worked diligently in the facility maintenance organization. He is described by his co-workers as dependable, dedicated and a man of few words. Otherwise, he would get ‘er done!!! He never missed work unless it was a dire emergency and offered a smile to all those whom he encountered. Bobby was called home to be with The Lord on Monday, October 24, 2016. He never married or had any children. His loves were sports, politics, current events and gaining wisdom and insight to share with others. He was an avid reader and loved reading his Bible, listening to gospel music and watching the televangelist. He also financially supported many charitable organizations. Bobby was dedicated and persevered in the midst of obstacles. He had faith and believed God would bring him through every trial and test. He was an overcomer through Christ Jesus, his Lord. Bobby also leaves to mourn his passing a niece, Dawn Satterwhite (Carl), Dino McClure, Vaughn Richard Spann, bka “Ricky” (Latoya), Gerald Russel Spann and a host of other relatives and friends.
