Every now and then God places a soul on this Earth whose spirit touches everyone she comes in contact with. On February 15, 1958, such a soul was Sumbra M. Brown.

She was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 15, 1958 to Warren Albert Favors and Ruth Lee Favors.

Sumbra (some called her Melody) was an exceptional student. Not only did she graduate early from high school but she was the first black person to graduate with honors from Kiser. She studied math and science at Sinclair Community College where she also was a science tutor.

Sumbra became a Christian as a young girl. Her calling was to teach and preach the word of God. She was a faithful and devoted Christian who eventually became Evangelist Sumbra Melody Brown. She was a guest speaker at different churches around Dayton. In the early 80’s her talent as an Evangelist lead her to host a Dayton Christian radio show.

She enjoyed singing, sewing, cooking, writing children’s books, caring for children and reading the word of God.

She was an unselfish mother, daughter, sister and friend. She dedicated her life to taking care of others. She dedicated her life to serving God.

This soul, on January 21st 2017 at the age of 58 went home to be with her Lord and Savior whom she served her whole life.

Sumbra is predeceased by her father, Warren Albert Favors and her Brother Warren Albert Favors Jr “Bay Boy”

Sumbra is survived by her mother Ruth L. Williams, siblings Christal Favors, Dino”Tiny’Favors, Walter A. Favors,(7) children Johnny Archie, Neda Archie, Ramone Archie, Charity Archie, Adamina Archie, Jasmine Brown, Jeshua Bryant,(19) grandchildren and (2 )great grand children.
