Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Young Lusain Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00am and service to follow at 11:00am.
Maxine was born on February 24, 1939 to Fred and Claudia Bell Woods. She graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in 1957, and eventually went on to work in the OGBYN clinic at Good Samaritan Hospital where she retired after 28 years of service. She also went on to marry and had three children, Bonita, Nelson, and Joel.
Her interests included baking cakes and pies, as well as making homemade candies which included fudge, & bourbon balls. She also enjoyed needle pointing, working in her rose garden, carrying for her beloved dog Dynasty, as well as keeping up with her great grandchildren.
Maxine is survived by her 4 siblings Claire, Elizabeth, Marguerite, and her brother George. She also leaves behind her daughter Bonita (and spouse), two sons Nelson and Joel, ten grandchildren: Lakeesha, Kenyata, Bonita, Anthony, Johnathan, Gabrielle, Danielle, Shanika, Ashley, Alicia, and 16 great grandchildren.
