Dad,
Mom and I went to your gravesite on Valentines Day. I dont know why...I'm sure there's some kind of logical reason...I tried to take a picture of your spot but my camera wouldn't take the picture. I tried like atleast 6 times, because I am a skeptic when it comes to these things. I was able to take a picture of your tree, Dad. That came out just fine...and when I looked away at another gravesite and took a picture, that one worked. I just wanted a picture for no good reason of your gravesite before your marker is set. I miss you Dad. I really need to talk to you. I miss your talks to me..I was ready to start actually taking your advice, Dad.

Any person brave enough to serve our country is a hero in my book. I am proud to list your father as our first honorary memorial. For the things he did in his life, he was a great man and I am honored to provide this memorial to remember his life. God Bless.

When i Must Leave You

When I Must Leave You
For a little while,
Please do not grieve
And shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow
To you through the years,
But star out bravely
With a gallant smile;
And for my sake
And in my name
Live on and do
All things the same,
Feed not your loneliness
On empty days
But fill each waking hour
In useful ways,
Reach out your hand
In comfort and cheer
And I tour will comfort you
And hold you near;
And never, never
Be afraid to die,
For I am waiting
For you in the sky!

"This poem has personal meaning to our family. You see, while my father was home recooperating, he asked, no, insisted on making some phone calls to a few individuals. One of those individuals was Martin. After talking for a little bit he asked Martin to do him a big favor and read this poem at his funeral services because it most reflected how he felt...and it's what he would want to say to us.we thought he was going to get better... and we did our best...I miss you Dad."

Tribute to a friend

He will live in the hearts of the friends he made
and be know always for the foundation he laid,
Because Goodness and Fairness never die—
they go shining on like sun in the sky,
Just as honor and truth endure forever,
Death is powerless to destroy or sever…
So his gallant soul has taken flight
Into a land where there is no night,
He is not dead, he has only gone on
To a brighter, more wonderful dawn.

Given to me by His good friend, Martin.
