Dear Mrs Luhabe Shilowa,

I am heartbroken by the news of your sister Linda's sudden passing. Please accept my deepest condolences. My prayers are with you and the family as you grieve this sad loss.

It seems that we are all walking through the valley of the shadow of death. Thanks God we are not alone. I pray that the Lord will comfort you and give you the strength to endure.

It is very sad that this pandemic makes us wonder whether we will ever meet again. I can only send my warm regards and assurances of my high esteem to you and your husband, with whom I served our nation. In the hope that I will have the chance at some point to express my condolences in person, I send my sympathies.

May your dear Sister rest in peace.

Yours sincerely,
Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP

Linda we can choose to wallow in sadness and despair at the cruelty and suddenness of your passing but even as the death knell has rung we choose to zoom in on the fun personality you were, the caring and loving daughter to your parents and Big Sis you have been to us all. We smilingly remember that high pitched voice and the free spirited Woman who loved and lived life. Yes tears are inevitable especially because we are unable to be physically present to bid you farewell. Lala ngoxolo nangokuzola Linda. Uthixo akukhanyisele ngokhanyiso olungacimiyo. Xolani nani Luhabe Family and be strengthened by memories of the love and good times you shared. -Bongi and Lizo Siwisa

Sis Linda was less than 2 months away from celebrating her 70th birthday on Feb.21st. She had made plans to celebrate with Sis Sheila Cibi in Cape Town and we were planning a celebration of her 70th,my 65th and Pindile’s60th in 2022. Next Monday she was planning to visit her friend Sesi Mihloti in Giyani for 2 weeks. Inkomu Sesi Mihloti for making the trip from Giyani to pay your last respects to your friend, sister, confidant, travel companion and comforter, a role she provided to many in Daveyton. It is clear that Sis Linda had plans to live as we all do ,but God had other plans for her as He has for each of us.

As much as Covid-19 is stealing so many lives, God is still on His Throne and watches over us. Masibambelele kwiNdumiso 23,uYehova ngu Melusi wethu.

As a Family we are blessed to have shared a life with Sis Linda.,MaLindrish as we fondly called her.

I am personally grateful for the privilege I had to work with her for 9 years in my office with her looking after my affairs. She was diligent, dedicated, reliable and I could always depend on her.

Our younger sister Pindile arranged a visit to Daveyton in Nov with Lumko, my son and their daughters, Mila and Zenia ,to have lunch with her. She was so happy to spend time with them, little did they all know it would be the last time they would see her. God has a way of arranging things, the Holy Spirit must have impressed upon Pindile to arrange a visit, I am glad she listened.

She came towards the end of Nov. to help me pack up the office, we had lunch together with Noxolo and Mbhazima joined us, again, not realizing that her time on earth was drawing to a close. We saw her one last time early Dec. in Daveyton

and she insisted on giving us a hug, when we dropped her, little did we know it would be our last hug. We will miss her, everyone who knew Sis Linda will remember her with great fondness. She touched many lives in the family both near and far, in her community and at work.

She was full of stories, she had so much wisdom about life and people. She was carefree, full of life, uncomplicated although she had her moods, ebengu “ntlokwana”,”unogqwaza” sometimes, “itshobolo.”

OGogo basemButhweni eDaveyton used to call her Mamncane in the true sense of the word because she used to reprimand them even though they are older than her. She used to say people assume she is lonely because she lives alone, but she enjoyed her own company. She did not believe she was cut out for marriage. Sometimes we would call her for days and she would ignore our calls, when she is ready she would call us back. Over the Christmas period it was the same, she ignored everyone’s calls.

Her last message to me was”Just chill, relax and enjoy your holiday” on Dec.27th.

Her next message was on Jan.2nd at 3h22am telling me she had blacked out and fallen twice, the rest is history. Death stole her too soon, death snatched her away from us unexpectedly, reminding us that tomorrow is not promised to any of us, that each day and each breath is a gift to be treasured, that we must get our affairs in order, sort out our relationships with one another and be at peace with everyone. She was an inspiration, a blessing to many and lived her life meaningfully and purposefully.

We will miss her in so many ways and for so many reasons because she was to each of us a special gift. I will miss her no-nonsense attitude, her frankness, her cooking, her concern for people, especially the elderly. She loved my husband Mbhazima, she randomly cooked umleqwa , idombolo and chakalaka for him.

She used to host an annual Christmas lunch for the elderly in their Church.

A great tree has fallen as Maya Angelou says in her poem, and when great souls die, after a period, peace blooms!! May peace bloom in her community and in our family, far and near.

Her favourite Hymn was “Lukhangela Kuwe “and the last verse sums up the end of her life. Ithi, kwakuphel’obomi, kwauk’ufika ukufa, ndivelele Msindisi ngothando, shenxis’uloyiko , ndis’ eZulwini ndiphunyezwe,

I believe her wish was granted!!!!

Phumla ngoxolo MaMiya,MaGcwanini, Sbewu, Vezi, Mancoba, Malebomvu.
