I have known Jerry since 1985. I still remembered Jerry’s kind smiles when I met him in San Diego 2 years ago. Jerry had instilled a measure of confidence in me when I needed most. I was very lucky to have opportunities to work for Jerry for many years. Jerry had always provided me the best computer and technology resources when I was his graduate student and that were the envy of many other graduate students at the time. Jerry had touched my heart in so many different and extremely valuable ways. I owe Jerry an enormous debt of gratitude.

I met Jerry in 1991. He stopped in one day on his way home at the computer store I operated on the Mileground. I will reiterate Laura in saying Jerry was always on the cutting edge of computing. He always had a challenge for me. Asking for components that I did not stock. When he would leave and I would begin my search in finding him the hardware, I would think where does this guy come up with this stuff? Does he work as a double agent? He was always pushing for the best in technology. Little did I know when I came to the Davis College in 1999 I would meet up with my friend from the past and still be ready to challenge my knowledge. I miss you my friend. May the next phase of your journey be a pleasant one.

Having known Jerry in different capacities over 40 years - as a grad student, professor, father & husband, I know he will be sorely missed. Jerry was always on top of computer equipment. I would walk into his office & he'd be surrounded by 4 terminals. I would say Jerry "you can never be too well-equipped". This would make him blush. A good memory!

I remember travaling to China twice with Jerry. Once in a large group then another time, just with Jerry and another WVU prof. One time we were hosted at a fancy Chinese government banquet on a golf resort outside of Beijing. Jerry and I couldn't resist going out onto the fairway of the closest hole. The course was empty on a fine spring day. After only several steps, we were surrounded by some Chinese official looking folks who "politely" asked us to go back into the resort building. We both thought "wow", we'd better behave ourselves for the rest of the trip. Jerry seemed to always enjoy an adventure.
