Rocco R. Muzzipapa, 91 of Colorado Springs, Colorado, died on May 7, 2017 at the Union Printers Home. He was member of Divine Redeemer Catholic Church.

Rocco was born in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey on July 25, 1925 to Rosario Ross and Katherine Lucy (Santoro) Muzzipapa. He was a veteran of World War II.

As strong-willed as he was kind, Rocco was a man of simplicity and true honor who remained devoted to his faith until the end. He was filled with generosity and charity on top of wit and wisdom, which so many cherished.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Eleanor E. Muzzipapa.

Rocco is survived by his children, Rocco R., Jr., John A., Stephen S., Joseph W., Anne I., and Christina M. Muzzipapa; his sister, Rosemarie Muzzipapa-Mapp; grandchildren, Nathaniel J. (Lisa), Eleanor E., and Gina D. Muzzipapa, and Annie (John) Orleans; great-grandchildren, Matthew R. and Heather N. Muzzipapa, and Ashton and Megan Orleans; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. I was in JROTC at Mitchell High School for 4 years, During my freshman year I introduced my grandfather to the instructors in the unit. One day my grandfather was picking me up from school and I asked chief to come out with me to meet him. Once I got in his truck. Chief and grandpa talked for a while before chief went back into the classroom. I asked grandpa "What did you think of him?" and grandpa replies with "I like him he's a nice guy, he was right about not being able to stump you on anything don't disappoint him" My grandfather,my mother and my uncle came to the Spring Commanders Call during my freshman year it was snowing really bad that day. I took all three of them back to the classroom and I introduced grandpa to colonel, grandpa lit up and he told colonel about his time in the WWII. Each time I would come home from school grandpa would always ask me "How is chief and colonel doing? tell them I said hello for me will you?" He was very fond of my JROTC unit he admired them greatly. I remember telling him when I was going to sign up for JROTC he was very proud of me through the four years that I was in JROTC.
