Robert M. Davis, 91, passed away on January 21, 2017. He was born on Feb. 22, 1925. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a Coach and an Athletic Director for Tecumseh High School where he was a mentor to many of his students. He was a member of Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame and Springfield/Clark County Baseball Hall of Fame. Bob had many accomplishments but his greatest was his love for his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Dorthalee "Copie" Davis; son Luke A. Davis; sister and brother-in-law Darlene "Sis" and Roger Cooper; and son-in-law Randy Black.

Bob is survived by his daughter Shirley Black; sons Leslie (Nancy) Davis, Woody (Linda) Davis and Casey (Robyn) Davis; eight grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of Bob's life will take place at the Bob Davis Field at Tecumseh High School on July 8, 2017.

Memorial donations may be made to the Tecumseh Education Foundation to support a scholarship in his name.

Current Memories

From: Woody Davis Friday, July 7, 2017
In honor of Coach Davis, family and friends are compiling a book of his favorite, sometimes original, aphorisms, commonly referred to as "Coach Davis-isms." Coach Davis used his "Davis-isms" so frequently that those who new him could often complete these phrases and sayings after hearing just the first two words. Coach Davis-isms were mostly preventive or corrective medicine for situations that arose in the course of a practice or game. Recently, we have come to realize that, taken together, they formed a system of values and positive ways of dealing with the situations one confronts in life. In countless situations since, they have come to mind. We would love for you to contribute to our collection of Davis-isms, dubbed "Great Balls of Wisdom" using the Tribute section of this website. Please share your favorite Coach Davis-ism and tell a story of when he said it to you or the team. And please be sure to sign the Guestbook with your name and email address. Contributors will be listed in the book when it is published. All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the Coach Davis Scholarship Fund.
