Mark Null, surrounded by family and friends, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2015. He was born in Smithville, Texas, on June 21, 1938, the seventh child of George Oscar and Meta (Oltmanns) Null. He graduated from Smithville High School in 1956 and went to work in Austin, Texas in the electrical trade. In 1961 he joined the National Guard, his unit being called up into active service during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was honorably discharged from the army and went to work in Houston, Texas, for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. In 1983, he transferred to AT&T and retired in 1989. He then did contract work for AT&T for 9 years. Thereafter, his time was spent taking care of his cattle and traveling. The move to La Grange came after the farm in Ledbetter became too much work to handle. Once in La Grange, he was able to enjoy his many grandchildren and further travel.

Mark was a member of Communication Workers of America and The Telephone Pioneers of America. He was also a member of American Legion Post 180, and a longtime resident of Ledbetter, Texas, before moving to La Grange.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Brull Null of La Grange; daughter Stevelyn Winbigler and husband Brad of Katy; stepsons: Rick Witt and wife Kari of Cat Spring; and Shawn Witt and wife Tammie of Bellevue; seven grandchildren: Joshua Marcus Winbigler, Sara Beth Winbigler, Christy Lynn Witt, Zachery Dayne Witt, Shelby Hannah Witt, Kaitlyn Sierra Witt, and Julia Nicole Witt; sister Katherine Moerbe of Austin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents Oscar and Meta Null; brothers: George O. Null, Jr. (Sonny), Freddie Null and Doug Null, Sr.; and sisters Mildred Creel and Ruth Duty.
