Jalma Lewis, 57, of Dayton OH gained her angel wings on November 22, 2017 at her home.
She was born March 24, 1960 in Waynesboro, Mississippi to Robert Rankins and Ollie Mae Smith.
At early age, she was baptized at Saint John Baptist Church and gave her life to Christ. She graduated from Waynesboro Central High School in Waynesboro MS. She retired from General Motors where she worked for 13 years.
Jalma loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved her kids and grandkids. She was a jokester amongst her family and friends; always keeping everyone laughing. Jalma was a beautiful person inside and out. She never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand. Her life mirrored the fruits of spirit as she extended love to all whom she encountered. She was very kind and loving as she opened her heart to many whenever they needed her. She displayed joy and peace as she faithfully worked to take care of everything God entrusted in her care. She was patient and disciplined as she awaited a change that only the Lord could bring. Jalma enriched the lives of many people. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Jalma was preceded in death by her parents Ollie Mae Smith and Robert Rankins and her 4 sisters, Joyce, Priscilla, Sherry and Robin.
She is survived by her children Robert Mays, Lamessiah Lewis and Kmani Lewis residing in Dayton. Her grandchildren Isaiah, Robert Jr, Akiya, Serenity, and J’myah. Her siblings May Gray, Willie James (Zella) Taylor, Willie Frank (Vera) Mays, Otis (Barbara) Wright, Janice Lockhart, Donna Pough, Marcus (Ingrid) Smith and aunts Lille Breland and Willie May (Carey) McDonald all residing in Mississippi and A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
