Chekala Nicole Peagler was born June 17, 1974 to the parents of Randolph Peagler Jr. and Terilyn Dortch (Butler). Chekala was a Dayton Native. She was enrolled at Central State University and was always an A-B student. Kela had strong faith and loved God with all her heart no matter what.

Kela loved music, fashion and was an avid dancer. During the 80’s at many barbecues, mom would love getting her to dance in front of family and friends. If there was a million dollars on the line to see who could do the best ‘Cabbage Patch’ dance, ‘The Prep’, ‘The Wop’, ‘The Reebok’ or the ‘Smurf’ and etc., she would have won hands down.

Chekala was the life of every family gathering growing up, with a comedic genius that could rival Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy and Kevin Heart, no lie, the girl was that good and that funny. Just by being herself and putting her special twist on real-life events, Kela was able to find humor in almost anything. Kela had an infectious laugh and smile just like her daddy ‘Big Randy’.

She leaves behind her kids, Derrick and Taylor Kingsman, Dontae Clemons Jr.; two grandkids, D’Aira Kingsman, Da’Miya Kingsman. Brothers Elize McNair (Alice), Joey Peagler, Randy Peagler (Jeralyn), Travis Peagler (Stacey). Sisters Elizabeth Drake (Eddie), Rhonda Peagler and her favorite Cousins, Rod, Shavon and Qiana Norvell. Childhood friends, Rochell, Dareyall aka Dee-Wee, Luewannia, Lusonia and other childhood friends and family.

Professional services entrusted to Young Lusain Funeral Home and Crematory.
