Carolyn Marlene (Miles) Ponder, age 81, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 at her residence. Carolyn graduated from Central State University in 1957 and received her Master’s degree in teaching from Wright State University. After molding the minds of children from kindergarten to sixth grade, Carolyn retired from teaching after 27 years with the last 24 years of service with Xenia City Schools.

Carolyn was an active member of the South Xenia Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness and attended the Kingdom Hall in Xenia, Ohio since 1962. She loved cooking, quilting, reading, visiting with her 9 grandkids and playing with her cats and dog. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents William and Glenna Miles. She is survived by her husband Ulysses Ponder; children Mark (Karin) Ponder, Glenna (Tim) Baccus, Anthony (Tina) Ponder, Sheila R. (David) Ault, Robert (Sandra) Ponder; brother Charles (Jeannie) Miles; grandchildren Kaleb U. Ponder, Erin Miller, Taylor Miller, Micah J. Ponder, B. Marlene Baccus, Kennedy M. Baccus, Brandon D. Ault, J. Ulysses Ponder, Anya Rae Ponder; nephews Stephen Miles, Aaron Miles; niece Pamela Miles Schultz; and her beloved cat, Freeloader.
