Visitation (12pm) and Funeral service (1pm) will be Sunday, August 27, 2017 at South Park SDA Church, 414 S Park Rd SW, Birmingham, AL 35211. Graveside Service (10am) will be on Monday, August 28th at Valhalla Cemetery.

Florence L. McKinnon Thompson Brown was born 99 years ago, on June 12, 1918 to the late Oscar and Mary McKinnon in Greenville, Alabama. On August 21, 2017 she received her earthly rest.

Florence confessed Christ at an early age, later hearing the 3 Angel’s Message Revelation 14:6-12, she joined the South Park Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her heart remained loyal until entering into sleep.

Sister Brown was a retired housekeeper and retired Home Health Aide. She served as a deaconess and member of the Community Service Department. Some of the joys of her life were crocheting, cooking, and her grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and laughter. Her warm heart, giving spirit and love for others will always be remembered.

Florence was married to the late James Earnest Thompson and to this union nine children were born, four preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn four daughters: Gussie Bell, Johnnie Gosha, Teresa Thompson, Bernett Davis (Birmingham, AL), and one son Charles Earl Thompson (Rock Island, Illinois), one brother Johnnie C. McKinnon (Davenport, Iowa), 23 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, 35 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and church family.
