Ms. Odessa Beatrice Armstrong (Jones), age 72 went home to be with the Lord following a brief illness. She was a native to Belzoni, Mississippi and has been a resident of Dayton, Ohio for over 50 years. During her illness, Odessa turned her will over to the care of God and joined Mt. Enon M.B.C She attended Dunbar High School and worked as a teacher’s aide at High view Elementary School in the early 70’s. Odessa had many of friends’ and loved to have fun. She had one child Conner Jones before she met her Mr. A.D. Armstrong in the early 60’s. Once married their union brought forth three more children Brenda, A. D. Jr. and Derrick Armstrong.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. A.D. Armstrong Sr., (step-son) Phillip Armstrong,(mother) Roxie Ann Jones(brewer), (father) Manassie Jones, (brother) Conner Brewer Chicago, IL, (sister) Flora Mason Chicago, IL, and great-grand child Naomi Simmons.
She was survived by four children Conner Jones, Brenda (Moses) Goodman Jr. A.D. Armstrong Jr. and Derrick (Dawn) Armstrong, 2 (step-sons) Keno Armstrong and Xavier Pointer, 1 step-daughter Della Reese Armstrong (Byrd), Sister Grace (Howard) Brown Chicago, IL, 3 brother’s Leroy Jones, Marvin Jones and Rev. Henry Brewer.20 grandchildren 15 great-grand children, and 2 great -great-grandchildren. Friends of the Candy’s Flowers, Johnny Blanks and Yolanda pointer and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be April 6, 2017, at Mt. Enon M.B.C. (1501 W. Third Street/Dayton, Oh 45402). Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
