Lynda Kay Banner was born in Foosland, Illinois on July 1st 1935. She went to school in a one room school house until her family moved to Longmont, Colorado in 1950. Her father, Charles Lyndon Banner was a school teacher, construction worker, an insurance investigator and sang in a barbershop quartet. Her mother, Lois Lorene Coleman - Banner was a nurse, homemaker and sang in the church choir. She had a younger brother - Charles Lowell Banner, who proceeded her in death.
Kay graduated from Longmont High School in 1953(139 in her class) and was in The National Honor Society. She began college at CU Boulder as a piano major.
Lynda Kay Banner married her high school sweetheart Dale Leroy Heathershaw also of Longmont, CO on Sunday, September 19th 1954 with her maternal grandfather, Arthur H. Coleman performing the ceremony. Kay and Dale had two children, Leland Roy Heathershaw, born August 7th 1955 in Blue Island, IL and Leslie Ann Heathershaw(a.k.a. Leslie Parker-Taylor) born in Longmont on November 11th 1957(Armistice Day).
In 1961 they moved to Albuquerque, NM and then to El Paso, Texas in 1965. Kay served as president of the Vista de la Cruz Garden Club. She had fun studying art and painting with Carlos R. Pineda in El Paso. She also volunteered at Western Hills United Methodist Church and with the Girl Scout Council in El Paso.
Kay went back to college at the University of Texas at El Paso in January 1974 attaining a perfect 4.0 grade average and making the Honor Roll(Dean's List). She became a member of Alpha Chi - The National College Honor Society.
Kay graduated in 1980 with a BA in Accounting with Honors. She found employment working as a Trust Officer for the El Paso National Bank and in 1981 was named to the listing of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
Then in 1982, after 17 years in El Paso, Kay and Dale moved to Colorado Springs, CO and then home to Longmont, Colorado - finally coming full circle.
Kay enjoyed traveling across America. Destinations included: New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Orlando and Sanibel Island, FL, Houston and San Antonio, TX, South Dakota, Wyoming, New Mexico, Grand Canyon in Arizona, Seattle, San Francisco, L.A. and San Diego, Las Vegas, and Hawaii in 1997.
From 1994 to 2004 Kay was the vocal music coordinator for churches and schools at DJ's Music Box store before retiring.
After the sudden death of her daughter in April 2003, she joined the community at Seville at Heather Gardens in Aurora, Colorado.
Kay enjoyed scrapbooking, the Red Hat Society, the Lunch Bunch, Mount Rosa chapter of DAR(Daughters of the American Revolution) and her friends at the Friday Afternoon Club. She passed away on April 10th 2018 at 82.
She is survived by her loving son Leland Heathershaw and three beautiful grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Heathershaw, Michael Lee Heathershaw and Sarah Leanne Heathershaw.
