THE PROMISE KEEPERS TRIBUTE (MEN'S FELLOWSHIP)

Our dear brother Steve,

We join your family in thanking God for the life you've shared with us, especially in the men's ministry at LCC (The Promise Keepers). You agreed to serve in our welfare department and we thank you for your valuable encouragement and support to many.

We remember your quiet demeanor, warm smile and invaluable counsel to our leaders and members.

We cherish your love for God, your family and people of all walks of life. You loved, respected and cared deeply about people.

We accept the will of God to call you into eternal rest as we pray that He may watch over the family you loved so much. We promise to uphold them in prayer and support in any other way the Lord will enable us.

We are confident that, by God's grace we shall meet at the feet of Jesus in our heavenly and eternal home.

Rest in the company of the angels and all the saints who have gone before us... Until we meet again...The Lord reigns, blessed be His Holy name.

Light is sown for the righteous,
And gladness for the upright in heart.
Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous,
And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. Psalm 97:11-12

Tribute to Steve Ouma from Youth for Christ (YFC)

For the very 1st time we’re all gathered physically & virtually from all over the globe to pay tribute to a father, a friend, a mentor and a staunch supporter of the youths.

Despite the pain, sorrow & grief from the loss of our dad Steve, as YFC we are neither going to cry nor weep, not because we can’t, but because we’re deeply convicted that our dad is in heaven. For he lived for Christ while here on earth and now he has gained Heaven. We therefore choose to celebrate & rejoice.

We celebrate a man that loved God, because he was born again. We celebrate a man that diligently served in the body of Christ, because he was a servant leader. We celebrate a man that ministered to the youth, because he was a mentor. We celebrate a man that esteemed others to be better than himself, because he was humble. We celebrate a man that supported the youth in all ways to settle in career and family, because he was generous.

Steve made us the youth to look nice before our peers. Together with mum Mariam, they were on the highest echelon of the Best Couple of choice that any aspiring young person who looked forward to settle down in marriage, would joyfully consider to have them by their side as they walk down the aisle. He financially supported many of us that had weddings. In addition, he would give his cars to ferry the bridal team in many wedding ceremonies.

Together with mum Mariam, they warmly welcomed us in their lovely home for fellowship & mentorship which always ended in swallow-ship. During our visits, he would ask us tough questions as a father, just to challenge & provoke us to work hard in life, make investments and to settle down in marriage before Jesus returns. It’s indeed sad that he rested before some of us had crossed over, for he would have wished to celebrate all of us the way he did for others. But in everything, we thank God.

As a family man, our dad Steve was successful in all fronts and facets of life. Quietly we admired his elegant lifestyle, industrious career and magnificent family that he greatly loved & treasured. His house was & still is a bee hive that always play host to many people both young & old. Steve was our role model and we dare say he was a yardstick of success, worth emulating by everyone who wants to cause a difference. And as the youth, and in honour of his memory, we will endeavour to live his legacy.

In conclusion, we thank God for his great life, we thank God for allowing us time to fellowship with him, we thank God for using him to bless many of us, we thank God for his ministry of mentoring young people & offering them wise counsel to make it in life. We thank God for his great, lovely and wonderful family that he brought forth and has left behind to soldier on and to keep the fire of his legacy burning. We’ve got no doubt whatsoever that by God’s grace, they will overcome this difficult moment and move on to achieve the best in life that their dad had desired for them.

Mum Mariam, you are an iron lady. Like Ruth the Moabite in the Bible, your faith is visible and your bravery is unwavering. Your coming to church before sunrise together with shirlene to pray for dad was never in vain. We know God heard those fervent prayers and in His own way will answer you. Trust Him and continue following Him the way you have done. YFC salutes you, cheers you on.

To Shirlene, Keith, Seth & Calvin, God loves you very much and has great plans for you because He’s your father, Forever. Please know that YFC loves you too & it’s our prayer that the Lord will bless you and keep you and make his face shine upon you. May His favour be upon you & a thousand generations upon your family, your children & their children. May his presence go before you, behind you, beside you, all around you & within you. In the morning, in the evening, in your coming and going, in your weeping and rejoicing, God will always be there for you. Shalom.

With love from Youth for Christ.
