As Alumni Secretary at Mu Chapter of Sigma Pi in 1972 and 1973 (my sophomore and junior years) I recall Bert as one of our rare supporters among the sprinkling of alumni dues the house received every year. I also remember seeing Bert's support when I became Sage in my senior year. It is funny how time can change one's perspective. At the time, a brother from the class of 1961 seemed ancient -- these days, the difference of a mere dozen years seems miniscule. I have only been on the Alumni Board for a year, and missed the pleasure of reconnecting with Bert. But the fact that the Board has gone from strength to strength in recent years is certainly partly due to Bert's effort. Rest in peace Brother. - Peter

Losing a parent is gut wrenching. My dad was a giant among men. He thaught us a strong work ethic, loyalty, never give up, never underestimate someone, always always provide for the less fortunate, always remember your roots and always give back. Shortly before he passed, he asked me about his legacy...His legacy lives through 4 amazingly smart, giving, compassionate, loyal, caring, driven young women in his grand daughters. They carry on his legacy and are proud to! You will be sorely missed Daddy, but I am so glad you are with David and Momma again.
