John Rock July 01, 2017 4:59PM I want the world to know.... I had the best dad a man could ever have. Dad, was hero and the hero of others as a fireman rescuing people from fires and working on the ambulance as an EMT. Rock, my father raised me to be respectfull of others, especially my elders. I dreamed last night that Dad and I were throwing the football to each other like we did when I was a kid. I will miss talking to you for advice about this life but looking forward to being in your presence in heaven. Your son Johnny.

Joseph Meeks June 23, 2017 7:21PM Rock, You are a huge part of my life. I fell in love with you from the monument I met you. You stepped into a father figure roll at a young age. Brought me to Dallas and got me a job at Central. Where everyone knew you as my Dad. I can only guess who started that rumor. Made me a better man and taught me I could be more then what others imagined me as. Showed me who I could become without defining myself by my past. You got me thru heart aches. You showed me what a real man is. So glad we got to say good bye. I will always cherish you. All I can say now is mmmmn mmmn mmmn mmmn. Lol thank you again. Until we meet at the grocery store in the sky. This time your looking for the tomatoes and I will take the call from the bar maid.

Remembering: What do you say about a man that never meets a stranger? Whether you called him Rock, Burnes Wade or even Fred, shortly after meeting him you would be drinking a beer and talking about the good old days. Give him just a little bit of time and he would be telling your life stories as if he had been through them all with you. He was just that kind of guy. He came into my life over 20 years ago and has been a staple of it ever since. Over the years he has been a part of many life lessons that I have learned. For example there is nothing better than Oreos and Braums milk at midnight, starched jeans and that you really can drink yourself sober. Even though we enjoyed many great memories together the lessons that affect me the most are the ones the he taught me without even knowing. He taught me that fathers really do exist. They stand by you through good times and bad. They are there to pick you up when you fall and that they don’t have to share your blood to be your dad. Even in death he is still teaching as we look back on our life with him. Life is not all about the destination, it’s about the journey. I will be forever grateful that I was a part of Rock’s journey and that he was a part of mine. I know that you are at peace Paw Paw and I will see you again some day. Until then keep grandma on her toes and the music playing. Elizabeth
