We read in the Bible that Jehovah God will: "Swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.” (Isaiah 25:8) Like a father who removes the cause of his children’s suffering and dries their eyes, Jehovah takes great joy in bringing death to nothing! Jesus cooperates with him. We read at 1 Corinthians 15:22: “In the Christ all will be made alive."

In the late 1980’s I had a business appointment in Lufkin, Texas and drove there from my home in Garland, Texas for the appointment. Finishing my meeting early I remembered a recent magazine article about a couple that did some beautiful art in wood and that they had a studio in what was then becoming the “Downtown Lufkin Arts District”. Our family business involves wood working machines related to the type of wood art they were creating so I decided to see if I could visit with them while I was in town. I called and spoke with Jerry Booher at the Roberts Studio and thus began not only a very pleasant business relationship but a long friendship and my resulting appreciation of both Judy’s artistic talent and Jerry’s talent with machinery and tools as well as being a brilliant business man. Interesting visitation conversations through the years informed me that Jerry had literally grown up in his fathers machine shop. Through the years as our businesses grew we spent many hours sharing experiences and occasional laughs from Jerry’s stand up comedy experiences. My wife Cindy and I also enjoyed the Tennessee mountain visits that always included samplings of Jerry’s expertise at the barbecue grill and of course his “secret barbecue sauce” recipe and then off to the local flea market to search for items to decorate Roberts Studio’s famous “Front Porch” - complete with those fabulous rocking chairs. Jerry’s retirement dramatically reduced those visits and I miss them and now I will miss him deeply. Our condolences go to Jerry’s loved ones along with our plea to our Merciful, Loving God to hold you close and comfort you through this painful time.
